performance and talked and signed stuff for an hour and a half or so. Everyone was so nice, especially our new friends at the station. Thanks to Mix 94.1 for having us and supporting the record as much as they have been.

After Bite of Las Vegas, we went to the Rio to see Penn and Teller put on an amazing show. I’ve always had a thing for magic. I can’t do any tricks. I can hardly shuffle a deck of cards. But i can respect anyone who gets paid to put on a suit and tie, stand in front of lots of people, and lie and cheat their asses off. Except politicians.

We were lucky enough to meet Penn and Teller after the show. We even got to hear Teller talk! As i imagined, Teller actually is sort of quiet off stage, and Penn actually is as charismatic and captivating in casual conversation as he is for their show. We talked a little about music, a little about wolves and sheep, and a little about Penn as the voice of Lobo, one of Marvel Comics most bad-ass villains. As my good friend Sam has just thoroughly described to me, Lobo has killed entire races, is so evil that he was kicked out of heaven and hell multiple times, and is totally hated by the Justice League of America. “They HATE him”, Sam says. Naturally. This is a guy who killed Santa Claus. Penn agreed that if you’re going to be the voice of something, it might as well be a total bad-ass like Lobo (Penn also has a role in a Disney movie about sheep due out in 2004).

From there, we went to the Mandalay. We played slots for an hour or two. I lost sixteen bucks. T made about ten. T’s better than me at every game under the sun, including games as simple as pulling a lever and staring at spinning numbers and symbols. Ah well.

All in all, we had a wonderful time and look forward to going back.

Tomorrow is laundry day. And e-mail day. If you’ve e-mailed me and i haven’t gotten back with you, i promise i will soon.

’til next time.
